  4. Sam Says:

    Incredible

  5. bubbletoes Says:

That is something I would do. I wonder if that is really her body or how she would like us all to think her body looks like. But it is very neat anyhow…

  14. d Says:

so… what? what the fuck is this shit? If she loved him then that wouldn’t be stone, that would be her, so instead she paid more money on his tombstone than the people beside him. YEAH SHE LOVES HIM RIGHT, SHE OBVIOUSLY DOES, SHE PUT A NAKED FEMALE STONE MODEL ABOVE HIM, DAMN WAY TO SHOW HOW MUCH YOU FUCKING LOVE HIM, how did you get this done? Did you have Scion do it? Fucking stupid shit on this web page. If i found this I’d urinate on it. I bet people wank on it, way to show your love, you stupid fucking bitch, i hope he sleeps well covered in semen and piss all over his tombstone.

  15. The Baldchemist Says:

i wish i could find someone like that

  18. Ranvir Singh Bassi Says:

Certainly different. Its a shame the guy is never gonna be able too see it. To be honest I think its a waste of money, but then most romantic stuff I tend to be blind on. But she cant be romantic with him anyway, hes dead. Ahhhhhhhhh I dont get it. Maybe she just wanted too show her figure or something? But I guess only she knows. I hope shes trying to show her love too a dead guy rather than plain old vanity.

  19. Todd Says:

    That’s amazing….love it!

  20. anon Says:

    thats hot

  21. Mumwrap Says:

  30. carla mason Says:

she looks cold and this makes me sad.

  31. Rebussohal Says:

    That is just awesome.

  32. Buy the iPhone Says:

it’s incredible and shows how much her wife loved him, but I would be terribly upsed if I had a relative buried near that “thing”
    I don’t know why but…

  33. Justin Says:

    Beautiful.

  34. Ayla Says:

She must have loved her husband beyond all reason and comprehension. That’s amazingly beautiful and heartbreaking. I am almost speechless.

That old saying “It’s better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all” comes to mind”

After seeing this, is that true?
    Really, really true?
Is the heartbreak at the end worth it?
Is there ever *really* an end?

It makes one long desperately for that depth of love…and to be terrified of it at the same time..

Overall, it’s the most devastatingly beautiful thing I’ve seen in a long time

  35. Ixa Says:

    Dear D-

    http://www.users.bigpond.com/SCHIP/asleep.htm

Don’t assume. You’ll make an ass out of yourself.

  36. komie Says:

top bit of stone work… nice gesture… @d, damn u are seriously angry at life… keep the stress levels up like that and it wont be long till ur in ur grave. the only people visiting ur grave would be to take a quick piss and the gardener blowing leaves…

  37. GEOFF LEPPARD Says:

Sorry, but what? This is clearly just both an advertisement for her conceit and superficial nature. If she genuinely loved him so much, the figure wouldn’t be made of stone, and why the fuck would it be naked? The only sentiment behind this is ‘I fancy showing people how dedicated a wife I was, and how much money I have’.

    Silly bitch.

  38. Ben Says:

    D is for dumbass.
and lets just hope when you die i piss on your gravestone, as small and shitty as it may be.
anyway, whatever, its pretty good, a bit of a waste of money, but quite effective.

  39. izza Says:

i bet someone is gonna rape it soon

  40. When He Died, His Wife Commissioned This to Show her Love « EmperorDecker Says:

I want me under my blankets with morning wood in stone when i die.

  42. bob Says:

    @d

The door is that (<-) way. Thanks for stopping by.

  43. RIWILKEL Says:

she should have shown him this when he was sill alive but thats how it goes you will always be shown how much you were
loved after you have gone never when you are still around

  44. Boon Says:

She has a really massive big toe in the last pic.

  45. paula moore Says:

I want to experience that feeling just once before I die

  46. Scott Says:

d: You’re fucking clueless. Really… you’re a total and complete idiot. Congratulations, you waste of skin. I hope you enjoy what is sure to be a pathetic life devoid of all human emotion. Jerkoff. Perhaps if you’d ever felt love for someone else you’d “get it”. Instead, you come off like a 12 year old (and a stupid one, at that). Time to grow up.

As for people who are saying “It’s a shame he didn’t get to see it”… it is… but it wasn’t done for him. It was done for her as a part of the grieving process. She wanted a “part” of her (her image) to be with him… it’s her heart there… that’s where she is, in her mind, all the time now.

  47. LittleKnown Says:

Qui sefalet ukimua resergana shetuimi, kofilatu qua joiko.

She will rest with him for an eternity, that’s true love.

  48. dave Says:

    this is nice

  49. dave Says:

that statue is pretty cool. i would want something like that.
or maybe the two skeletons hugging….

  57. gojo Says:

    She’s HOT! (for cold marble..)
    Wonder if she’s lonely?

  58. Joel Says:

It looks too hot… But unfortunately the husband wont enjoy it…. others will enjoy ;)

  59. Talia Says:

    I thought it was touching.

D, bitter much? I’m guessing someone dumped your ass recently. But dont worry. I’m sure with an attractive attitude like that, you’ll be picking up the ladies in no time. The kind you have to pay for, anyway.

  60. Zeon Says:

Reply to d: that is a piece of art. You miserable idiot.

  61. Ted Fitz Says:

She was that way when he was alive.

  62. "d" is a douchebag Says:

’nuff said. that’s a really sweet thing to do

  63. fitzapollo Says:

sooooo, I’m the only one that thinks that’s kinda creepy huh?….. hmmm, ok

  64. Allan, Tulsa, Oklahoma Says:

This is an amazing monument! Just beautiful!

  65. David J Says:

This looked so lifelike, I thought it was a web hoax. However it is true, as explained on the sculptor’s website ( http://www.users.bigpond.com/SCHIP/asleep.htm ). It was commissioned in 1987 and is in Mt Macedon Cemetery, Mt Macedon, Victoria, Australia (NW of Melbourne). A wonderful tribute.

  66. PoPoDomains Says:

    Very Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  67. jessh Says:

This is so sad. She obviously wanted to show how much she was dedicated to him and the nakedness was just meant to intensify her stark love for him, devoid of all distractions; just her grief.

Makes me wonder what will happen if/when the grief starts to fade, though…

  68. john Says:

Not condeming it, just suprised they allowed it ! Cheers

  69. dr. obvious Says:

    Two things to say.
    1) this is a really beautiful piece of art,it really moved me, he was a lucky guy.

    2) To you freaks who can only make snide comments or sexual jokes get a freakin life.

  70. Tommy Peters Says:

Ms Matheson, thank you. Keep Aurence’s memory alive. Speak of him whenever you have the opportunity and he will always be there, alive. Cheers

  71. notbornyesterday Says:

I think the “stone” lady is, in fact very much alive!! It’s just a kid on. Honest!

  72. Poon Tang Says:

I’ll bet homeless men try to fuck that at night…

  73. Benjaman36 Says:

    I’d tap that.

    WITH A CHISEL MAYBE ROFL.

  74. ben Says:

    shock-rock

    simple!

  75. Mara Says:

This piece is beautiful. It reminds me of the ancient Indian ritual of a wife throwing herself onto the body of her dead husband allowing them to burn on the pyre together. The idea of being unable to continue in life without your partner and willingly dying with them is a tragic but very romantic gesture, though it seems Romeo and Juliet fully explored that option. Conveying this idea through stone, which is a permanent fixture, only emphasizes her everlasting love for her husband.

  76. Michael Says:

we start from dust and return to dust, she died with him and if u look close, her head has started to “melt” back into the headstone, maybe she too is decaying with time

  77. i am a fat fucking cunt pooface Says:

hello my name is barry and your a fat cunt go eat shit do you like my name??? HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  78. The Dude Says:

Why with the negativity? Would you seriously piss on someones grave? Yes, I agree, waste of money, but damn, what a way to show your affection. But seriously “D”, get a life, go outside, and lay off the computer for a while. Disrespectful piece of shit.

  79. bellz Says:

so whoever “d” (above) is…………….you must never have been loved or loved anyone. there are no rules or boundaries to love or how you show it. just becasue this women has more money than you and is by far more creative than you ever thought to be doesn’t mean you need to express your awful opinion and degrade ones love for another. i hope next time you see something as wonderful as this women’s lost love, you keep your FUCKING, IGNORANT, WASTED, NAIVE, SHITTY MOUTH, AND MIND SHUT!!!!!!!!! secretly i hope you are not as big of an asshole as you showed on here but i do wish that someone soon spits in your food.
to the women who made this, thank you for showing undying love that obviously some will never learn to know.

  80. Raw Says:

Well to each her own. but for god’s sake, how tacky! Did her dignity die with him? Yes, chickie you loved him. Obviously a lot. But c’mon, you are woman, let’s hear a roar! Grieve, then get up and get on with your life, dont let your raison d’etre hinge on someone else!
You’re going to honour his memory much better by moving on and creating new happiness than you are by dying with him, even as metaphor.

  81. JO Says:

Even though there isn’t a way for him to see it, it’s kind of like a memorial to their love. Notice all the “fingernail scratches” on it, like she doesn’t want him to leave. She indeed died with him.

  82. KillBot Says:

so… what? what the fuck is this shit? If she loved him then that wouldn’t be stone, that would be her, so instead she paid more money on his tombstone than the people beside him. YEAH SHE LOVES HIM RIGHT, SHE OBVIOUSLY DOES, SHE PUT A NAKED FEMALE STONE MODEL ABOVE HIM, DAMN WAY TO SHOW HOW MUCH YOU FUCKING LOVE HIM, how did you get this done? Did you have Scion do it? 89. Harrison-do-karate Says:

Wow, just.. wow. When my lover dies im going to do this… but im a guy and will have clothes chiseled on =)

  90. ruston Says:

Oh to be so in love!

  91. paula Says:

This is sad, perhaps poignant, but also pointless. Its like so much of today. Its about surface, its about appearance, its about a visible demonstration of what should remain private. Such an overt demonstration of grief or “love’ is not about her dead husband its about her. Its all for show. Its cheap its tacky its public its vulgar at the very best its tasteless.

  92. Ron Says:

So, to show how much she loved him, she had some dude stare at her naked for hours on end so he could carve it in stone - and then put it in the middle of a sacred place like a graveyard for all the world to see?

  93. Dar Says:

This is so symbolic, and such a selfless act of love. She wanted to show the world how much he meant to her, as he obviously felt the same. Doubtful she was the model, and I don’t think it is tacky or vulgar. To express love in today’s world is just what we all need. Perhaps if more would feel this way, and demonstrated it, and act with more kindness to others, our world wouldn’t be so much the shite mess it is in.

  94. Able to Read Says:

If you take the time to look at this picture and read the thoughts under it, you will realize that the carving is not her, its modeled after another one the sculptor did of his wife. AND the man who died was a friend of the sculptor.
It’s a work of art to honor someone. Better then some sad looking angel.

  95. Chelsea Says:

wow ever one is getting so fired up about this, i mean ok it was cool to look at it weather u like it or not u saw it had your thoughts about it and move on

  96. Sid Stein Says:

This is not at all about the departed. This is about her. It says “look at me naked in the middle of this graveyard.” It says “I am going to make sure everyone knows what he is missing.” Love, “what do ya all know about love.” I don’t care to visit a cemetary and look at tits and ass all over the place. Besides what if a 300 pound porker or a tiny weenie man wanted to leave their memories in marble. What then?

  97. Joel Says:

Having read all of the comments, some poignient and others vile, none of your opinions really matter. The woman who commissioned the work acted in grief and sorrow though a horrific time in her life. For those of you who judged her, who are you to judge? Have you lived in her shoes? Her actions were those of a desperate woman in pain trying to gain control and sanity where she had none. I’m certain her actions were a stepping stone to move on with her life.

  98. GhoulFather Says:

Good evening one & all…..so many have said how sad it is that the guy didn’t get to see this “Tribute” to him,
however…if we “mortal souls” can come back from the the dead in some form,…..that would be nice to see at your Grave Site..

  99. teresa Says:

beautiful. although it makes me kind of sad to think that love like that is very uncommon nowadays. obviously her husband was her heart and thats such a rare and beautiful thing.

  100. Utarinsyis Says:

How beautiful…. I love how she looks cold. I bet when it rains and water is running over the piece it looks even more beautiful. The emotions that the piece conveys are amazing. If my love died this is exactly how I would feel. What an amazing show of emotion and love.

  101. grizzy Says:

Here’s to D and his poor nasty mouth. You know ‘d’ if you can’t say something nice, then at least be respectful. Nobody cares how much you hate the world other than yourself. I think you do these kind of posts so someone will write about how negative you really are. You feel safe behind your computer so go to some negative site and spill your swill. Have a rotten day.

The statue is beautiful and very creative. I hope he knew how much she loved him when he was alive. I wish I had known this kind of love in my life. I am glad that she had that. Ho Ho everyone!

  102. Amsel Says:

This is very beautiful, simple as that.

As for everyone out there analyzing the reason for the woman deciding to do this… Why do you care? You don’t know the people, what they shared, how they were…
You have no idea of her motivations behind this gesture.

But of course, what would the internet be without immaturity and children hmm?

On a side-note to those going on about “omg vulgar naked…” Did you even look at the pictures? Nothing “vulgar” is showing, hell, they show more then that it cartoons now-an-days.

  103. Les Says:

What a tribute to her love, and left for the world to see. Hauntingly beautiful.

  104. boris Says:

i find it disturbing. having said that i’m not offended by “nude stones” in the least way. but something is not quite in balance… something is too much. maybe because it should be *his* grave, not hers - she’s putting her love for him over his life and death. that kind of strips him of everything he was apart from being her love.

  105. Mark Says:

As many have said this is simply beautiful.
A testament of undying love….My God, the anguish she must have felt….
To hear Paula talk she drives a honda, lives in a trailer and wears consignment clothing…Please Paula hypocrisy is not attractive.

  106. Cattie Says:

    How beautiful.

  107. Koosh Says:

    I’d tap that — with a chisel.

  108. jasmine Says:

  109. Joe Says:

Wonderful! Shows the world what a lucky guy he was in life!

  110. WTF Says:

it’s great that from d’s hate stems more hate.

  111. Tom Says:

I cried when I saw the magnitude of her love. I wonder if Lawrence had any idea how blessed he was, that he was the richest man in the world.
Fuck the Taj Mahal, this shit took my breath away. This is how I like to think Gods love looks. Beautiful…………………….

  112. Tom Says:

Im crying at this image on my screen, I never do that. I wonder if Larry had any idea how supremely blessed he was. I wonder if he comprehended that he was the richest man down under. The Taj Mahal, the pyramids, the eternal fire at Arlington were all attempts to express grief through art, sincere gestures all, they pale in comparison. This is by far the most moving piece of art I have ever seen. The fingernail scratch marks are chilling. Beautiful. Ms. Anderson I can’t tell you how my heart goes out to you, I lost my son two years ago and this is how I have felt since the day he died. I know how it feels to be a dead man walking.

  113. carrie Says:

After reading all the comments and reading the cheap and unthinkable comments by those who just think about this sculpture in a sexual nature or to the mindless twit d go and read the story about the sculture. This sculpture is about a man’s love of art and sculpture and a wife that understood that love of art and was able to express her grief in a way she knew her husband would appreciate. Its not about the money, I’m sure if you had plenty you would do useless things with it. As you were able to freely express your opinion, even though it would have been better kept to yourself, so she is also free to express herself freely without persecution from people like you who dont bother to take the time to understand or even get the true facts. Its s shame you cant get your head out of the sand and really appreciate life.

  114. Sarah Says:

anne: If you think that anyone would go perved over something like this, then you have the reason of it all wrong. To everyone who continues to down the piece, it’s not the piece it’s self but where it’s placed. The meaning of the piece will be apparent when the place it is in is meant for it.
The first thing I thought was everlasting love, not “Hot damn lets wack off to it!”
It may not be the typical grave piece, but it is unique and I think the artist did a very good job.

  115. melissa hedwall Says:

i cried when i saw this. i understand how she must feel. if i lose my husband i would die too…

  116. Phil Foreman Says:

That’s so precious. I’d really like to do something like that for my wife; and real soon! :)
